State of Bass Fisheries: NC’s Smallmouth Demise, Alabama Invaders, F1 Stocking & Shearon Harris Saga (Who Killed the Grass? Can we eliminate the Slot?)
This week on The OneCast Ben, Pete, and Trey are joined by Corey Oakley Assistant Chief of Sportfish Management for the Inland Fisheries Division of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission. Corey comes into the studio to discuss a wide range of topics that are of interest to anglers across not only North Carolina but the United States.
Corey talks about the slot limits on Shearon Harris, Hydrilla management of our fisheries, and the Alabama Bass Invasion. We learned so much about managing our resources and the processes being used to manage them as well as some things being planned for the future. We also gained significant insight into the F1 program and goals/potential benefits long term.
If you live in the Eastern United States you're not going to want to miss the discussion on invasive species and specifically Albama Bass. The management of the invasion and stopping its spread is vital to native fish across the Eastern US.
Corey also is one of two hosts of the Two Bald Biologists Podcast along with Ben Ricks. It is a great informational podcast that can be found at Two Bald Biologists
